The Ship Has Docked! It's Party Time!
Party games? Yeah-amongst the new games that have arrived (but currently still at the warehouse) are party games. You know, those laugh-out-loud games where everyone makes a lot of noise and a fool of themselves? Yeah - party games. The old usual party games which have been available in Malaysia for years, if not decades, are now pretty stale. How many times has one honked the irritating hooter after someone in the opposing team said that word that he should not have mentioned in trying to describe an obscure human activity? And how many times has one drawn that picture of that word on the card representing an exotic fruit that looks like a human appendage? (Bananas, anyone?) Suffer no more! Our party games are new and fresh and has never been made available in Malaysia before! Some of these are spanking new 2009 releases.
The first party game I would like to write about is Time's Up Deluxe 10th Anniversary Edition- The Fast Paced Guess-Who-I-Am Game. Yes, Time's Up is 10 years old, but at no time in its 10 years has Time's Up arrived in Malaysia. How could such a classic game not have been made available to us? I dunno, but this reflects the dearth of the usual party games available to us. Well, now things are going to change-for the better. Anyway, Time's Up Deluxe Edition is a game for teams of two or more players where team mates try to guess the names of famous people. The clues that are allowed depends on the current round. This range from any type of clues through to no word clues are available at all, resulting in lots of laughter! Time's Up Deluxe Edition is the base game plus a compilation of the best of Time's Up expansions in it's 10-year history. It is also a multi-award winner:

The next hilarious party game is the award-winning You Must Be An Idiot! 2nd Edition. The First Edition was out of print long ago and was The Top Ten Game of The Year. This is a clever trivia game with a twist. Amongst the players are one or more "idiots". This person has been randomly and secretly designated by cards. Now non-idiots are expected to answer the trivia question correctly, and the idiots are expected to answer the question wrongly. To score points: get the answer right when you're not an idiot; correctly accuse an idiot. Mmmm...easier said than done, I guess. Also try to avoid getting found out when you're an idiot; or trick others into accusing you when you're not an idiot. With me so far? There are lots of clever tactical choices in this game. Certainly not for idiots!
Another 2009 new release is Pants On Fire! where players are given 3 different generic descriptions of feelings or situations. They then write down events from their own lives that match the 3. But, of the three, 1 must be true, 1 must be a lie, and the third can be either true or false. Each player then tells his stories, and the other players try to determine which ones are true and false. They score points for guessing correctly. Can you tell who's telling the truth and who's a liar?
The above three fresh party games are just to whet your appetite. Apart from these, there are more party games in the warehouse waiting to be unleashed to the unsuspecting public soon. Now it's time for me to part company and, er, party!
